DESCRIPTION:Please join legal observer collective 613 Pink Vests for this workshop on policing Palestine solidarity in Ottawa\, featuring presentations and reports from researchers\, lawyers\, and activists with expertise and on-the-ground experience in the Palestine liberation movement. We’ll learn about the criminalization of Palestine solidarity in Ottawa and across Canada\, as well as how the movement has been fighting back and how we can strengthen that response. \nSpeakers include:\n– Jamila Ewais (CJPME Foundation)\, lead author of the recent report Policing Palestine Solidarity: A Crisis of Civil Liberties in Canada (2021-2025)\n– Nora Fathalipour (Nuance Legal)\, criminal defence lawyer\n– Tom Ledgley (Horizon Ottawa)\, coordinator of the “Defend the Right to Dissent” campaign\n– Andrea Stokes (613 Pink Vests)\, legal observer \nFacilitated by Shaheen Lotun (Labour for Palestine). \nMasking is encouraged\, and masks will be available on site. Several air purifiers will be in operation during the event. The venue can be reached by elevator and there are no steps within the space.
