Join us to watch the gripping story of a young man who joins the antifascist International Brigades in Spain in 1937.

On May 22, join the Education for Liberation Collective for a screening of the gripping feature film “Land and Freedom.” This event is taking place within the context of the exhibition Art is a Weapon: Revolutionary and Antifascist Posters from Spain 1936-39, on at Gongfu Bao Restaurant, 365 Bank Street, until June 20.

About the Film: “Land and Freedom” (1995) tells the fictional story of David Carr, a worker and member of the Communist Party of Great Britain who decides to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War. The film’s story closely recalls George Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia (1938), his memoir of his time in the International Brigades.

– The main accessible entrance and ramp is at 290 Lisgar Street on the north side of the building.
– A second emergency exit and accessible ramp is located at 355 Cooper Street on the south side of the building.
– There is elevator access to all four levels of the building.
– Onsite parking is available, and the venue is easily accessed by public transit
