Los Canadienses Screening and Discussion – May 9
Join us for a screening of the documentary Los Canadienses (The Canadians) (1976) followed by an interactive discussion about antifascism.

This event is taking place within the context of the exhibition Art is a Weapon: Revolutionary and Antifascist Posters from Spain 1936-39, on at Gongfu Bao Restaurant, 365 Bank Street, until June 20.
About the Film: Los Canadienses (The Canadians) is a 1976 National Film Board (NFB) documentary about the Canadian volunteers who joined the International Brigades who fought fascism in the Spanish Civil War. The film uses archival footage from Canada and Spain, and has won multiple awards, including a BAFTA for Best Documentary in 1977. Read more and preview the film at www.nfb.ca/film/los_canadienses

About the Discussion: After the screening, we’ll facilitate an interactive discussion about antifascism and the connections between the film and the realities of the present day.
