sunrise / sunset – Riverbed Reading Series s7 iteration two
As the light pushes the horizon there is a different rhythm, inspiration arises, temperatures change, we turn on. There is a clarity at sunrise and sunset that is almost absurd. This August we are celebrating this queer energy with poetry and experimental music.
Ottawa’s Vera Hadzic and PARTYGIRL will each take the stage with this theme in mind. Poet Jody Chan and percussionist Yang will come in from Toronto to share their latest collaboration madness belongs to the people. We’ll open the night with an open mic (2 min time cap), and co-host nina jane will provide a few writing prompts for attendees who wish draw on this energy. Inspired by the spirit of Café le Hibou Ottawa (1960–1975) and Cabaret Voltaire Zurich (1916), we are an inclusive, experimental gathering space at the very intersection of literature, music and performance.
