National Day of Action for Climate Justice

Landlords are cashing in on green retrofit funding, low- and moderate-income tenants are once again left behind—facing sky-high rents, no AC, broken windows, and unaffordable energy bills.
On May 28th, ACORN members will take action nationwide to demand real climate justice for tenants.
What we’re calling for:
– Full Rent Control in every province
– A national ban on fixed-term leases
– Tenant protections in all retrofit funding: affordability, cooling, and anti-eviction guarantees
– Transparent agreements between funders, landlords, and tenants
– National energy poverty programs like OESP in every province
– City-wide max-heat bylaws to protect tenant health
