Women Weaving Resistance

March 8 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

Join us in making a Community Blanket on International Working Women’s Day.

Bring your own square (crochet, sew, or knit a 5x 5 inch square) / or make one at the event!
We will sew them together as a symbol of our connectedness and strength as a community.

Migrante Ottawa, the International Migrants Alliance (IMA), and the Carleton University Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (CUCHRP), are hosting an educational discussion and community crafting event on March 8th. We are commemorating the resilience and lived realities of migrant workers, especially migrant women. Migrant workers are forced to leave their home countries to support their families in the face of hardship and struggles, such as abusive employers and recruitment agencies, precarious status, and years of family separation, to name a few. We mark this day to not only learn and understand the conditions, but to build the community strength and power needed to fight for a better future!

Date: March 8th, Sunday
Time: 2-4PM
Location: Carleton University Art Gallery (St. Patrick’s Building)
